Let’s talk confidence in discussing your rates
May 4, 2017

We’re all sales people. Even you!

Every time you have a potential client on a call, you’re making a sales pitch. Every time you send an email or write a blog post with an offer or optin, you’re making a sales pitch. Every time you write an opt-in page, you’re making a sales pitch. Every networking event, social media post and personal Facebook message too. Every product.

And you’re probably pretty good at it, too, or you wouldn’t be where you are today, would you?

So stop thinking you are so bad at sales.

Sales doesn’t have to Feel “Icky”

I know. I know. You feel uncomfortable accepting money for your gifts and you don’t want to feel like you’re forcing someone into a decision and you think your rates are probably too high.

First off, your rates are probably too low for your talent, but your self worth and money blocks and ego (that darned thing!) tells you they are too high. But if you work on clearing your sales ick and stop blocking your own success with this negative self talk, it’ll just  take a bit of practice to get you feeling more comfortable with sales.

This is one of those things that gets better only with practice. But the good news is, you don’t have to be on the phone with a prospective client to get that practice time in.

Instead, use the technique self-help gurus have been advocating for years: Look in the mirror and talk to yourself. Practice saying your rates out loud. Practice your segue fro-m discovery to sales pitch. The more you do it, the more natural it will sound, and the less uncomfortable you will feel when on a real call.

Fix that Mindset

Aren’t you just really telling someone how you can perfectly solve their problem? If you go into the call thinking it’s about you making money, then of course you feel icky. But if you step up and see that it’s about serving your perfect clients, than you are in integrity and should absolutely accept money.

You alone have the unique gift to help this person. You need to ask Spirit to guide you the right people but also take lots of action on getting clear on who the right people are and set up solutions for them. I work with spiritual entrepreneurs in technology. My branding and website clearly match that audience and I have a number of solutions to help them. By setting your mindset and your business up to receive, you can be unstoppable in healing!

Remember, you were born with a special gift and a special solution. You are genuinely helping your clients to overcome some obstacle in her life or business.

When you can turn your thinking around from “sales” to “helping” you’ll find it’s much easier to have the sales talk.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Follow Up

Most clients won’t say yes with the first call, and maybe not even with the second. But good coaches know that many sales can be closed if you simply take the time to follow up. Send a quick email and invite your prospect to:

  • Schedule a follow-up call to answer her questions
  • Read some of your testimonials
  • Review your coaching program outline or sales page
  • Or even join a different program of yours that might be a better fit

Don’t let that old “I’m not good at sales” thinking get in the way of making a real difference in people’s lives, and in growing your business and your profits. With these easy tips, you can quickly turn your sales blocks into a system for landing new clients consistently.
